MOVIE REVIEW: Angels & Demons

Angels & Demons ~ 4/5
Here's what has to say:
Angels & Demons(2009) PG-13
After the murder of Italian physicist Leonardo Vetra, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon's (Tom Hanks) investigation with Vetra's daughter (Ayelet Zurer) leads to a secret society, the Illuminati, and a quest for the world's most potent -- and deadly -- energy source. Ron Howard directed the crime thriller, which is based on The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown's novel and co-stars Ewan McGregor and Stellan Skarsgård.
My thoughts:
Pretty good movie, it had alot of interesting facts & theorys. Plot twists & turns made it even better! I would have rated it a 5/5 if I had understood everything it talked about. But since I am not Catholic, I did not really get thier rules or thier practices & thier way of doing things.

MOVIE REVIEW: American Pie Presents Beta House

American Pie Presents Beta House: 4/5
Here's what had to say:
American Pie Presents: Beta House(2007) UR
Dwight Stifler (Steve Talley) and his cousin Erik (John White) are back for another piece of the pie in this epic battle of the frats, which pits the beloved Beta house against the rival GEKs in a contest for social supremacy. The two
houses square off in the long-banned competition known as the Games. Eugene Levy returns as Mr. Levenstein and Meghan Heffern co-stars as Erik's new love, a nice girl who isn't down with the fraternity high jinks.
My thoughts:
We did watch the unrated version which showed alot of sex & naked boobs. However, the movie was hilarious!! I've always liked the American Pie antics & humor. Funny things always happened. My favorite part was the lap dance by the sheep, if you haven't seen it, you need to watch to understand!! Funny movie!!

MOVIE REVIEW: Secondhand Lions

Secondhand Lions: 5/5
Here's what had to say:
Secondhand Lions(2003) PG
In 1960s Texas, timid teen Walter (Haley Joel Osment) is forced to spend the summer with his rich and eccentric great-uncles (Michael Caine and Robert Duvall) on their farm, where, over time, he learns surprising tidbits about their mysterious and dangerous pasts. Emmanuelle Vaugier plays an Arabian sultan's daughter, with whom Duvall's character fell in love years ago. Kyra Sedgwick co-stars.
My thoughts:
My younger brother who is 26 & likes some crazy things actually recommended this movie. Now, I was a bit unsure because his idea of a good movie is usually a zombie movie. But, I figured we'd give this movie a try. And, we LOVED it!! It was such a sweet movie with such a powerful message. Two old men who were well past thier prime actually gave hope & truth to a young boy who only knew lie after lie. What a great message :) The movie actually made me cry a few times.

MOVIE REVIEW: Dirty Sanchez

Dirty Sanchez ~ 1/5
Here's what has to say:
Dirty Sanchez 2006 R96 minutes
In this nausea-inducing Tribeca Film Festival selection, the infamous pranksters of the Dirty Sanchez troupe -- think "Jackass" with a British accent -- take the world by storm at the behest of the devil himself (Howard Marks), who orders them to act out the seven deadly sins. Along the way, they experiment with enema-style beer bongs,
paintball guns, liposuction and other scatological spectacles that are sure to leave you utterly speechless.
My thoughts:
The movie was supposed to be similar to Jackass, but in the first 5 minutes, I had seen some guys penis atleast 5 times. Who wants to see that? We turned this movie off within 10 minutes because it was so dumb!

Snowstorm Memories.......

I was sitting around today remembering how snow storms used to be. I remember there was ALOT more snow on the ground before we missed school. Last year, my kids missed 2 weeks of school because of about a foot or 2 of snow. Now when I was a kid, we missed 2 weeks of snow, but it was because it was a BLIZZARD!! We had about 5 FEET of snow!! We were literally snowed in!! It was so bad that I remember my grandmother & 2 of my aunts had to come stay with us for a few days because when it all melted, the area they lived in was flooded.

We didn't just have bad memories from that blizzard, we had alot of good ones too. We had snowball fights with all our friends. When we first got our steps & a path to my grandparents across the street, we had piled all the snow in front of our garage & our yard & we were able to jump right off to the sidewalk. We'd sink in a bit, then slide off to the street & make our way back up to do it again. It was so much fun!!

Next we'd decide to drag our plastic sleds up the hill to the wall almost to the top. Then we'd pair up or take turns sliding down. Some of the braver ones (mainly my little brothers & thier dare devil friends) would actually start at the top of the hill & sled down off the wall for a much crazier ride. One time some kid even rode his sled down the steps, that ended up with him flipping & going home crying.

When we tired of this, we'd talk about building a snowman. We'd even start actually building one, but our end product NEVER looked like a snowman. We'd just be too darn wore out to complete one. And it didn't help that no one's parents would part with the things we needed to build one. So we'd end up walking around the neighborhood to check out all the snow & anything out of the ordinary. Sometimes the guys would go off snow shoveling, but that was if they could get a shovel from anyone's parents.

After all the exhausting fun, we'd say goodbye to our friends & trudge home. We'd strip out of out soaking wet clothes, toss aside our drenched coats & leave a trail of hats, gloves and scarves for my mom. After everyone was showered & into warm clothing, we'd curl up on the living room floor with out blankets & pillows. My mom would make us hot chocolate & some type of chips or nachos with dip or cheese. We'd watch a rented scary movie & be thankful the next day was already CANCELLED!!

The year we got 5 feet, we lucked out, not only did we miss school from snow, we missed school because of the flood too! Lucky kids!!

Why don't adults understand?

Remember when you were a kid & some adult, whether it would be a relative, friend or aquaintence who just got a big kick out of torturing you. They hugged you too tight, gave you a kiss that was too wet or just play aggravated you. Well, while I am not sure why people feel that because it's a child they can just plain torture them until they are upset or crying, but I sure do know it's ridiculous! Why do you want to upset a child to that level? Why do you think that because you're bigger & stronger you can do what you want? The little boy I babysit, my godson, has uncles who do that. They call him a girl, call him by a girl's name, when he was little he was teased while changing his diaper, so much so that he hated having his diaper changed in front of anyone. He's only 3, gonna be 4 soon, but he has a mean streak. One night he punched his uncle square in the nose. How can you yell at him when said uncle was holding him tight like a baby calling him by a girl's name? And he REPEATEDLY told him to stop!! It's irritating! Kids just want to be treated like people too! Do not force a child to do something they don't want. I have a nephew who hates being kissed. I have come to an agreement with him, if he lets me hug him, I won't kiss on him. I still get to be affectionate & he's more comfortable with it :) Enjoy them while thier young, make thier memories of you special & happy ones :) Remember, kids are people too!!

Racing to get the big kids!!

Usually I watch my little 3 1/2 year old godson from the time he gets off the bus at 1:15-1:30 til his mom finishes work at 4. Today was no different, except my brother & his girlfriend & thier three children came over for a little bit. When it was time to go get the bigger kids, I took my godson & my nephew who is also 3. The moment we walked out the door my nephew wanted to go get my daughter, who attends the middle school & doesn't get out for an extra 20 minutes. We began our walk through the alley, where my godson swore there was an alligator following us! They raced ahead to escape from that alligator. When we got to the school, we got my son & headed back. This time, they were in a race to get back home. So cute!! I love that age!! Learning so much & being able to express themselves so new things are a wonder to them! They are so funny & use expressions differently. I adore it!!

Shattered ~ 5/5

Here's what has to say:
Butterfly on a Wheel
(2007) R

Neil (Gerard Butler) and Abby's (Maria Bello) perfect life in Chicago is instantly turned upside down when their little girl (Emma Karwandy) is abducted by a kidnapper (Pierce Brosnan) with an elaborate scheme. With the clock ticking on their daughter's life, the couple is totally forced to comply with the wishes of a true madman. Mike Barker directs this thriller; Desiree Zurowski and Claudette Mink co-star.

My thoughts:
First off, it tests just what you will do if someone ever holds your child. It also shows the ultimate betrayal a husband or wife can commit & what could happen if thier spouse found out. Completely something awesome I could do if my husband cheated!! Her husband even had the nerve to lie to her, when he simply could have confessed & apologized. Great movie!! Kept me on the edge of my seat & I had no clue what was going to happen next!

MOVIE REVIEW: Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo

Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo ~ 4/5

Here's what has to say:
Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo
(2005) R

Deuce Bigalow (Rob Schneider) continues his self-appointed quest to please women as a he-whore in this sequel to Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo. Sent to a school for gigolos in England, Deuce is thrilled to discover the existence of a secret society of man-whores. Unfortunately, it appears someone is killing off the high-class gigolo cadets. Everything comes to a head at the 73rd Annual Man Whore Awards. Mike Bigelow (no relation!) directs.

My thoughts:
Good comedy, alot of cursing & sexual suggestions tho. Not really for kids or anyone under 16 or so I'd say.

MOVIE REVIEW: Trapping the Rift The Movie

Trapping the Rift: The Movie ~ 2/5

Here's what says:
Tripping the Rift: The Movie(2008) NR
Jenny McCarthy and Stephen Root lend their voices to this feature-length animated adventure from the Sci-Fi Channel in which Chode and the Jupiter 42 crew try to protect a princess and wind up the target of a time-traveling killer. But that's not all they face on the mission: Chode, Gus, Six, T'nuk, Whip and Bob have their hands full as they fend off indestructible clown hit men, desperate housewives and other nefarious villains.

My thoughts:
Laughed alot at the Desperate Housewives, reminded me of thier counter parts alot hahaha, but the movie overall was wierd & stupid!!

Kids Kids Kids!!!

So, my children have been earning money, a few dollars here & there for doing chores. Since we have been downed in snow, they have been shoveling the front side walk & the backyard to the gate so we can take out the trash & get to the street. Today I awoke to my son's piggy bank open with the plug out. His money was gone. He gave quite a few excuses, such as: I lost it!, I don't know where it is., I put it into the church offering. He's been spending most of his day on his bed in his room, I do not tolerate lying! Finally, he has admitted, he took it to school & paid $3 for 2 lead pencils. So, now he is grounded. More for lying than for spending the money. I just don't know how else to get him to save money for something expensive (it doesn't even have to be expensive, it can just be something he wants) rather than spending it on junk!! Ugh!! 9 year olds!! Atleast he will be 10 in a few weeks!!

MOVIE REVIEW: The Wendell Baker Story

The Wendell Baker Story ~ 3/5

Here's what says:
The Wendell Baker Story(2005) PG-13
Luke Wilson is both star and co-director of this feel-good flick about Texas ex-con Wendell Baker, who vows to redeem himself by helping a group of troubled retirees fight corruption at the Shady Grove Retirement Hotel. Sultry Eva Mendes co-stars as Baker's girlfriend, who may or may not take him back; Luke's brother, Owen Wilson, plays the evil head nurse; and seasoned acting veteran Harry Dean Stanton shines as salty hotel resident Skip.

My thoughts:
Parts of this movie were funny, other parts were just plain dumb, it was an ok movie, I wouldn't watch it twice tho!

MOVIE REVIEW: The Boondock Saints

The Boondock Saints ~ 5/5

Here's what has to say:
The Boondock Saints(1999) UR
Sensing a God-given mission to cleanse the earth of all evil, twin brothers Conner (Sean Patrick Flanery) and Murphy (Norman Reedus) set out to rid Boston of crime. But instead of joining the police force, these Irish Americans decide to kick criminal butt their own way. Willem Dafoe co-stars in writer-director Troy Duffy's crime thriller as the openly gay FBI special agent who's assigned to investigate the siblings' activities.

My thoughts:
Good movie with fantastic fight scenes. The theory they use, get rid of the bad, is a good one. Yet, thier way of doing it is very much against the law & disliked by many. Who are they to choose who lives & who dies?

MOVIE REVIEW: We Are Marshall

We Are Marshall ~ 5/5

Here's what has to say:
We Are Marshall(2006) PG
After a plane crash takes the lives of most of Marshall University's football team, new coach Jack Lengyel (Matthew McConaughey) must rally the surviving players and a grieving community to victory in this inspiring drama based on actual events. The film follows Lengyel and his assistant coach (Matthew Fox) as they try to renew Marshall's football program and help the close-knit West Virginia town of Huntington find new hope.

Here's what I think:
Based on a very true story of West Virginia's Marshall University, this movie was very tugging on the heart. As a resident of the wonderful state of West Virginia, I was more touched than others by this movie. I loved the remaining few team members spirits, thier willingness to go on, to continue to honor thier fallen team mates, coaches & fans. I was inspired by thier spirit & very proud of my own team, WVU for thier tribute to the fallen Marshall team. Showing thier new helmets to the new coaching staff at Marshall made me sob!! I recommend this movie to anyone who is a football fan, but also those who just like a great movie!! Even though Marshall only won 9 games over the next 4 years, they worked hard & did thier best, and for that, they should all be proud! Because, I am sure thier team was watching over them with pride for continuing to do what they all loved while everyone seemed to be against them & those who weren't, had a hard time doing what they wanted.

MOVIE REVIEW: Letters to Juliet

Letters to Juliet: 5/5

Here's what has to say:
Letters to Juliet(2010) PG
By responding to a letter addressed to Shakespeare's tragic heroine Juliet Capulet, a young American woman (Amanda Seyfried) vacationing in Verona, Italy, sets in motion a series of events that leads her -- and the missive's lovelorn author (Vanessa Redgrave) -- in search of romance. Directed by Gary Winick, this deeply tender and uplifting drama also features Gael García Bernal and Franco Nero.

Here's what I think:
Very cute movie!! Romantic, sweet & makes everyone yearn for thier true love :)

Novocaine ~ 3/5
Here's what has to say:
Novocaine(2001) R
Frank Sangster (Steve Martin) is a straight-laced
dentist who wants only to do a good day's work alongside his hygienist and fiancée, Jean (Laura Dern). But things change when he finds his chair occupied one day by the pleading eyes and yearning body of Susan Ivey (Helena Bonham Carter). Frank's tidy, prosperous life soon becomes a comic quagmire of illicit sex, illegal drugs and inexplicable murder. David Atkins directs this offbeat gem.
My thoughts:
Movie was pretty good, lots of different plot twists & turns. His brother is played by the actor who plays Casey Jones in the Ninja Turtles movies. The ending wasn't what I suspected!!

MOVIE REVIEW: Surrogates

Surrogates ~ 4/5
Here's what says:
Surrogates(2009) PG-13
Based on Robert Venditti's graphic novel of the same name, director Jonathan Mostow's sci-fi thriller is set in a futuristic world in which humans hibernate at home while living their lives vicariously through robot surrogates. When a series of mysterious surrogate murders occurs,
FBI agent Greer (Bruce Willis) ventures out into the world for the first time in years to investigate. Radha Mitchell and Ving Rhames co-star.
My thoughts:
First off, I would never want to live with a surrogate. As much as I like to be indoors at some times, like winter & rain, I would not want to give up every experience. Sure, it's less work, but then you are lazy & give up socializing & everything, no thank you!! All in all, the movie showed the up & downside of having robots. I was surprised at the ending! I tink Bruce Willis is great!!

Sublime ~ 4/5
Here's what says:
Sublime(2007) UR
After checking into the hospital for a routine procedure, 40-something family man George Grieves (Thomas Cavanagh of TV's "Ed") soon discovers that checking out won't be so routine in director Tony Krantz's eerie medical mind-bender. There's something horrifyingly amiss within the walls of the East Ward, and as increasingly surreal happenings swirl around him, Grieves struggles to keep his grip on sanity.
My thoughts:
Pretty good movie, although it was kinda confusing at times. It was hard to figure out what was going on & if it was really happening or just going on inside the man's head. The ending wasn't what I expected at all.

Knucklehead ~ 5/5
Here's what says:
Knucklehead(2010) PG-13
Drowning in gambling debts to his bookie, Memphis (Dennis Farina), former mixed martial arts champ Eddie (Mark Feuerstein) starts training gentle giant Walter (The Big Show) for a high-stakes fighting competition with a $100,000 grand prize that would solve all of their problems. Filmed on location in New Orleans, this WWE-produced comedy adventure also features Melora Hardin, Wendie Malick and Bobb'e J. Thompson.
My thoughts:
Fabulous movie!! Hilarious!! Can't believe they got The Big Show to do that stuff!! My family laughed the entire movie, until the end when Big Show made us tear up!! Such a cute fun movie!! A Must see for every WWE fan!!

Good Advice ~ 4/5
Here's what says:
Good Advice(2001) R
After losing his lucrative job and his superficial columnist girlfriend (Denise Richards) leaves town with another guy, brash investment broker Ryan Turner (Charlie Sheen) -- up the creek and desperate for cash -- decides to ghostwrite her advice column. Turner's charade works like a charm ... until the column becomes a huge success. Co-stars Angie Harmon, Jon Lovitz and Rosanna Arquette add to the fun in this engaging romantic comedy.
Here's my thoughts:
Pretty good movie, the guys does a great turn around! Wouldn't watch it again, but it had it's good moments. Kind of a chick flick to me!
