What is to come for Halloween future?

Halloween, the one time of year our little ones are allowed to knock on a strangers door, smile & say Trick or Treat before receiving a sugar filled treat. They head home to devour too many sweets & stay up too late watching monsters, vampires, ghosts & many other traditional goulish movies. Some of us go to Halloween partys dressed as tv or movie characters, superheros, traditional fright characters, too short dresses or oversized costumes trying to win prizes or just to have a good time & have a few drinks with friends. Our children go to carnivals & parades, bob for apples & pose for pictures. These are memories we cherish, look back upon & smile.

However, very soon those traditions may end as year after year the rules get stricter. The traditions questioned & changed, eliminating the things thought to be wrong. For instance, when I was a child, we went to school the last Friday before Halloween anticipating the afternoon when we had our class partys. We spent the morning distracted, waiting for the time to come for our teacher to say: Alright now class, let's go get our costumes out of the cubby. We would then pull our costumes over our clothes & march down to the playground or gym depending on the weather & parade around in front of the parents & teachers & other children in the school. Then we'd march back up to our classrooms to pumpkin & skeleton covered plates overflowing with chocolates & sweets, cupcakes & treats. A matching cup filled with juice & a matching napkin. We would then sit around chattering & filling up on sweets before dismissal. Then we'd pack our extra snacks up in a bag & head to the bus to go home. We'd come home with a ton of energy & anticipating trick or treat.

Tomorrow is my 9 1/2 year old son's Halloween party. He'll wait all day in anticipation, go out to his locker & grab his costume. Then, he'll head back to his class, put his costume on over his clothes. When the principal calls out thier grade, they'll march down to the playground, parade around in front of parents, teachers & other children in the school. Then they'll march back up to thier classrooms for a pumpkin or skeleton decorated plate which they'll put fruit & veggies on. Then go back to thier seats & play with the little trinkets the parents have sent in. Then at 3 pm, they will go home, minus any leftover sugary treats but a backpack full of trinkets.

I understand the nation is overweight, I also understand wanting kids to each healthy. My problem is, there are 4 times a year when there are parties. Only a few times a year do we get a free pass to let our kids fill up on junk food without feeling guilty. Isn't a child's Halloween party a great time for it? I just can't understand how you can ban Reese cups & cupcakes when you're celebrating Halloween!! How many fake vampire teeth & plastic spider rings does one child really need?

And don't even get me started on the schools where the children can't even wear the $40 costume you've purchased!!!

Steven Seagul

I wasn't very familiar with Steven Seagul before I watched 2 of his movies. First one was Today You Die, very good movie, even though I don't care much for action movies, I still liked it. The second one however, Black Dawn was ok, not really a very good plot & the movie itself was confusing. Anyway, if you need a movie casted & you want a beefy macho man, Steven Seagul is your guy!

I guess that's what I am.......

So, the other night my princess asks me if I know what IDK means, I replied it means I don't know, why? She then asks if I know what JK means, which I said means Just Kidding. She laughs & says wow mom, I didn't think you'd know that. I asked why? Her responses, cause it's teenage talk. I said actually it's computer talk, and since I am on the computer so much, that's how I know. She then says well, you're like a teenager in an adults body. lol

MOVIE REVIEW: Today You Die

Today You Die ~ 4/5
This movie star Steven Seagal, who plays Harlan. Harlan is hired as a delivery driver, who is screwed by his boss. When he realizes what happened, he hides the cash & fakes amnesia. He starts with breaking out of prison with the help of a fellow inmate who proves to have his back. He ends up uncovering a long line of criminals up to the detectives who've arrested him. With the help of his fellow inmate & the female detective who is assigned to his case, he uncovers the truth & leaves a huge mess of dead criminals & mass destruction. The ending however confused me because I didn't understand the tie in of a little girl at the children's hospital.

Can you smell where it came from??

So after a day of shopping & awesome deals with my mom, we headed to our favorite bargain hunting shop: GOODWILL :) I didn't get many good deals, just a skirt for my niece, books for my princess & a shirt for my monster. When the monster got home from school, he asked where I got him a new shirt at? I replied, where's my favorite place to shop? He smiled, says Goodwill, then smells his new shirt. I chuckle, to which he replys, well it doesn't SMELL like Goodwill, it smells like TARGET!!! hahaha, he's too funny!!

MOVIE REVIEW: The Brother's Grimm

The Brother's Grimm ~ 2/5
As this movie started, it showed scenes from a classic childhood story of Jack & the Beanstalk. Then fast forward, 15 years later a pair of brothers aka The Brothers Grimm are stalking the ghosts of the country side. They are famous for thier ghost hunting skills through which we soon find out are not such skill as the ability to fool others. With the help of thier loyal men, they create a ghostly scene, convince the towns people that they have killed the spirit or witch or whoever is haunting them. When they are dragged from thier latest celebration of a hunt done well, they are terrified to realize that they are after something very real. With the help of the town trapper, they try to search the woods for the cause of 10+ missing girls. Despite the action in this movie, we found it to be quite a bore!
